Perry disclosed this during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where he explained that marriage itself does not concern him, but the possibility of divorce does.
“It’s not the marriage that bothers me. It’s the divorce. Everybody that I know that did well and went broke, it was because of a divorce, so I’m good just being free,” he said.
The host had asked Perry whether he planned to get married, but the filmmaker made it clear that he was comfortable remaining single.
Perry’s comments reflect his concerns about the financial impact of divorce, particularly on people who had achieved significant success before their marriages ended.
He, however, did not rule out marriage because of the institution itself, stressing that his reservations were mainly about the consequences of separation.
